Happy color carps

Toji-temple was national building, was constructed for the transfer of the capital in about 1200 years ago. Toji-temple, which has a five-storied pagoda is there.
It is at southwest of the Kyoto Station, and it came into our view at first, as we reach Kyoto from west side, it is a one of the symbol of Kyoto is World Heritage. When you visited Toji-temple, you should check in the moat, which surrounds the temple. Please clap your hands; it is the signal of the feeding time to the carp. Red and white; Golden and Silver. If you are luck, you meet the auspicious color carp. But, you can not feed the carp, overfeeding is prohibited. Of course, No fishing.

Little drive

It was a fine autumn day yesterday. Though I did not have specially purpose, I headed a car to the Nantan area through the Route 9. I visited there after long interval. I thought the view of the old rows of house was changed a bit. There were many stores of the food-service, it seemed that residential zones extend wider than before. Probably my last visit was about 8 years ago. Sure, the road condition was really improved, so I got comfortable drive. As I reached the country area, I got the feeling that I wanted to go to the Japanese sea. On such a time, I met a big rabbit; it seemed it was the tree. And then, I stopped a car, and took the photo. Next year’s Chinese astrology would be rabbit.
I thought, I was really lucky, I met it such a place. And there were small Private Park.
I was envious of it. It reminded me a tradition that if you wanted to live wider house than now, you had to move to the local place. After having a drive a while again, the sign board of the station on the road came into my view. The name was Koetu-village.
I turned a handle to the right to get the rest time. The watch showed me it was 3 pm already. I could not decide that I would go or turn back for it was very comfortable fine day and I knew that I would take traffic congestion on the way home always.
Next time, I want to depart from Am, and to reach the Japan Sea. I headed the car to the home while I thought such thing, after I took a rest at the station. I met many big motorcycles there; it was best season of the touring, wasn’t it?

Candy work?

Wow, it was the candy work!
It recalled my old happy memory.
As a boy, I used to go to a fair of the shrine and a night fair of a local town. Almost all the shrine and the local town had a fair once a month. The tradition is succeeded by the local people at some fairs still now. For example, 21 day called “ Koubou-san” is the fair day of the Touji-temple, and 25 day is the “Kitano-tenjin-san” is the fair day of the Kitano-shrine, are really famous fairs. The handiwork of candy was one of the typical stores of the fair. Many people were inside of the store, I had to stay out side, and I could not see the details about it. I guessed, he cut candy to make the dog or the rabbit? Well, I remember, a man had a small store at the park or roadside of the bustling street, a carrier of a bicycle was the work space and the display space.
Always many children gathered, but such a store had disappeared already.
Because there was the store of the Japanese sweat, he was the successor of the traditional skill of the candy art.

(At Taneya Oumi-Hachiman shrine.

Fox Face?

What is it?
I found funny plant at an entrance of the shop. That was the first time I had met it. The color was yellow, and the shape was? It was very strange. Some of them were painted, as the face. I found the face which was like the pig face. I burst out laughing in spite of myself. I guessed, probably it was the plant, because in a sense, it seemed the artificial plant, which was made by plastic. I was taking an interest about it during my stay inside of the shop.
What was it? Why was it at the entrance today? Can I eat it, if it was real plant?
What do you call it? And I felt such several questions about it. It was a cake shop, which had a tea room inside it; we could choose the cakes and something to drink. Tea, coffee and others. At last, as I left the tea room; I asked to the staff of the shop, what was it? Was it an ornament?
They answered to me it called “Fox Face”, this was the best time of the year of it. Well, it had the image of a Halloween, as a yellow pumpkin, therefore it was yellow and it had funny face. And as I observed the face, indeed it was like Fox face. It seemed funny again.
After I came back to my home, I checked about it in internet; it is a kind of a vegetable
and it is the family of the eggplant. But it is not good for eat. One other name is “ tuno-nasu” in Japanese; that it is the “horned eggplant” in English”? “tuno=horn” and “nasu=eggplant”.??????? The name of Fox face is the Japanese name, is named by Japanese. They said that they do not know about English name.
If you know the name, please tell me about it.
