The Paulownia flower of Kiri tree)
When I walked across the Kamigomo grounds, the big tree came into my eyes. Several people were taking the picture of the high spot of the tree. I looked up at the high point of the tree, then, I was surprised that the tree had many flowers. What was the name of the tree? I did not know.
(上賀茂神社の庭を横切るとき、大きな木が目に入ってきた、数人の人が木の上の方を狙って写真を撮っていた、見上げると驚いたことに大きな花が沢山咲いていた、名前は解らなかった。)
The name plate was at front of the tree, the name was the paulownia. The plate explained that it was the paulownia of looking back？(振り返りの桐). I guess that. Kamigamo shrine was famous of the horseback archery. As the chivalry went through the side of the tree, they looked back, because the tree was at side of the horseback archery course. Therefore, it was called the paulownia of looking back?(振り返り軒) It was my imaginary reason.
（木の前の説明に桐・“見返りの桐“と書いてあった、上賀茂神社は流鏑馬で有名、その騎士が前を通るとき振り返るんかな？ だから、”振り返りの桐？“ 勝手な想像です。
At the time, the wind blew, and then many big petals flitted in the air then that came down to the ground with a sound. My eyes were turned to the ground; many big mysterious flower petals were there. It is the petals of the paulownia? I had never seen the paulownia flower until then. I had never noticed that the tree was at the Kamigamo shrine, though I had visited many times yet.
（そんな時、風が吹いて、大きな花びらが沢山、空中を漂いながら音とともに落ちてきました、地面を見ると、沢山の花びら散らばっていました、上賀茂神社へは何回も来ていますが桐の木があるとは気がつきませんでした、今まで桐の花は見たこともありません（見ていても解らなかったのかも？）
The flower word is Noble, and it was the design of the 500Yen coin head side. Actually, the color and shape have the noble atmosphere. I thought, it seems atmosphere of old Japanese. For example was Heian period. The tree was the suitable tree of the Kamigamo shrine.
(花言葉は、高尚、五百円硬貨の表のデザインは桐です、確かに色も形も高尚な雰囲気ですね、それと古代の日本の雰囲気ですね、平安時代とか、上賀茂神社にぴったりでした。)
